Study finds 'alarming' human trafficking figures in Mexico's capital by the CNN Wire Staff (May 27th, 2011)

http://www.cnn.com/2011/WORLD/americas/05/26/mexico.human.trafficking/index.html?hpt=T1

Summary:
10,000 women are victims of human trafficking in Mexico City alone, yet almost nothing is being done about it there. Women are tricked into this form of slavery with empty promises of a better job and ultimately a better life. Sadly, no one realizes that the women in the alleys of Mexico City are not there by choice due to cultural norms and social stigma. Traffickers have become more crafty as seen through a factory disguised as a drug rehabilitation center. Recently, 5 men and 2 women have been arrested in Mexico for a forced-prostitution ring. Thankfully 62 victims have been saved.

5W's:
Who: Women
What: Are victims of human trafficking
When: This story was written on May 27th, 2011, but in reality, this has been going on since the Fall of man
Where: This article focuses on Mexico City, Mexico, but it is truly a global problem
Why: The depravity of man

Conclusion:
CBT: Social Science: Evangelism: God has specific directions (absolute law) concerning man's relationship to both Himself and his fellow man.
It breaks my heart to hear about anyone being exploited, especially women and children. God called us to love one another and not take advantage. Every person is precious in God's sight. How dare these people lie to these women and then use them for their own personal use. Also, shame on the government for not stepping up and really doing something about it (out off all the victims, there were only 40 investigations).
This madness needs to end! I believe that women should be educated on this topic so they can better protect themselves from the lies told by traffickers. How? Well, its hard to describe, but I think that schools should educate children at a young age on how protect themselves from being kidnapped or lied to. The government should provide safe houses for women who want to escape their pimps and madams.
God loves all, and it is also part of the government's duty to take care of its people.

I totally agree with you that people shouldn't be exploited like that. I actually heard about human trafficking at my old school about 1-2 years ago. I was so surprised that slavery was still going on, including Riverside county. I didn't realize that it was going on until I was informed. I don't think that people let teenagers and adults know that it is still happening, but they really need to. It can cause other people to fight against it and convince the government to take a stand with so many people fighting against it.

Thanks Irene.
It is kind of hard to realize that these types of things happen in America, not just in Mexico.

It seems that in order to fix this problem, we need to get to the source of it. First, deal with the problem in America with human trafficking and eradicate it. Then we can help other countries do the same by leading an example.
